Poetry tonight?
That was my intention, but
Gardening won instead…

Self explanatory!

Poem 544 – Poem 583 Revisited

Looked on eBay
There heard temptation’s echo
Bought a saxophone….

After being tempted by a sax in Lincoln, a bit of research turned up a bargain. I succumed.

Doing the chores

Forge reconciliation
And build new friendships

It’s been a day of working on relationships.

Sifting through old tapes
Memories resurrected
Fitting for today

After a packed morning service this morning, I’ve enjoyed a day with family, so only a short one today.

As the deadline approaches,

Mystery email
Says today is your birthday
Is this true? Or spam?

Today I received an email with a list of birthdays from an email address I don’t know. One name is known to me.

Mar 21, 2025Nov 25, 2025 / BenDQ / Leave a comment

Friday evening’s here.
I’ve written, talked and shunted
all day long. I’m done.

A quick poem at the end of a busy day.

Poem 432 – An Ode To White Van Man

Feb 20, 2025Nov 21, 2025 / BenDQ / Leave a comment

Two men and a van
Bish, bash, bosh, hurrah, job done!
Put the kettle on!

Today’s removal men for our daughter were fantastic! If only the flat pack furniture was as straightforward…

Inspired by a combination of Paul Cookson’s Daily Poems on Twitter, my father’s own writing, and National Poetry Day, I decided in 2021 to try writing a poem everyday for thirty days. Having reached my target, I've kept on writing...

My poems are inspired by day to day experiences or encounters, or occasionally the news if it grabs me and I feel the need to try and articulate a response. Someone suggested to me that it is my version of journaling - there's a lot to that. I live next to the River Lea and its regional park, and many reflect the joy I have in the wildlife and beauty of the area.

They're written for myself, although I'd be lying if I said it doesn't please me when someone else enjoys them. Feel free to leave comments and feedback!
