Mystery email
Says today is your birthday
Is this true? Or spam?
Today I received an email with a list of birthdays from an email address I don’t know. One name is known to me.

Friday evening’s here.
I’ve written, talked and shunted
all day long. I’m done.
A quick poem at the end of a busy day.

Two men and a van
Bish, bash, bosh, hurrah, job done!
Put the kettle on!
Today’s removal men for our daughter were fantastic! If only the flat pack furniture was as straightforward…

Eleven thousand,
One hundred and thirty seven,
Spent married to you.
Who’s counting? I am.
Each matters, every one a
Choice made together.
From the heady start,
Somersaulting down the aisle,
When Ben married ‘Ken’.
The joy of shared walks,
Exploring each other’s hands,
And ways of thinking.
To expanding love,
The miracle of childbirth,
And growing as one.
Enduring Ofsted,
Learning how you like your tea,
Shared viva anger.
Funding the future,
Investing all my eggs in
One basket with you.
Every day matters,
From mundane daily chores to
Ecstatic highlights.
Eleven thousand,
One hundred and thirty seven,
Spent in loving you.
Ok, so yesterday’s hastily scrawled haiku didn’t convey the feeling behind it (the time was better spent doing that in person than absorbed on the mobile writing!) Hopefully this conveys some of that. And yes, our vicar did try and marry Ben and Ken, his embarrassment a cause for great delight for the rest of us!

Best laid plans and all…
I said I wouldn’t do this
But hey, queue one up
It’s been a full day today. Sometimes you’ve got to do what you’ve got to do.

In my attempt to
Write a poem everyday
I will not write haikus
When writing a poem a day, it is tempting to turn to the haiku with its short format. It’s a great chat for a busy day. I will try and resist.

Three years on this trot
I’ve written poems today that
Share the same title
A short one today! A busy day with a great service this morning, clearing the house and decorations this afternoon, and friends around tonight to finish the season.

Oh, the irony
Of developing symptoms
Whilst we’re watching House
Hoping sleep will see this off…

Slouched on the sofa
Watching programmes on the box
With my other half
It’s the weekend. A night to relax.
